FSSC 22000 for Food Packaging Manufacturers

The scope of FSSC 22000 includes food packaging manufacturers, and many packaging manufactures are certified or working on achieving certification. The certification scheme uses the ISO 22000:2005 standard and ISO/TS 22002-4 to identify the requirements for certification. The ISO/TS 22002-4 is a document developed specifically for food packaging manufacturers. It identifies the requirements for prerequisite programs that apply directly to the industry.

The certification is recognized by GFSI, which means that your certification will be well recognized and accepted by many retailers and food manufacturers worldwide. GFSI certification is becoming a requirement for doing business with many of the large manufacturers. FSSC 22000 provides food packaging manufacturers a way to meet customer requirements for a GFSI recognized Food Safety Management System Certification.

Since the release of the PAS 223 (PAS 223 has been replaced by ISO/TS 22002-4), food package manufacturers have been able to satisfy customer requests for a Food Safety Management System Certification.
