ISO22000 is a Food Safety Management System, developed by the International Organization for Standardization to address the need for a globally recognized Food Safety Management System Registration.

Organizations in the food industry have many demands from different customers, industries and countries to become Registered to a Food Safety System. However, lack of global recognition meant that different registrations may be needed to meet different requirements. Now with ISO22000, a company can become registered to one system that is recognized throughout the food industry.

ISO22000 was developed based on the management system approach so effective in the ISO 9001 quality management system, but including the food safety techniques such as prerequisite programs (PRPs) and hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP).
